WHAT
LSU Sculpture in association with The Shaw Center for the Arts Presents:
Art in the Public Sphere,
An exhibition of sculpture & performance
by LSU Sculpture undergraduates.
“Art in the Public Sphere” is an exhibition of sculpture and performance by LSU Sculpture undergraduates. This exhibition brings together two bodies of work. In the first, “Context and Content” the students were asked to create work after selecting a site, in this case in downtown Baton Rouge, the content of the work is then driven by the context within which the work is situated. In the second body of work, titled “Personal Narrative” the students were asked to create what is essentially a self-portrait. They brought to the work aspects of themselves they would like to explore, resulting in a more conceptual rather that physical manifestation of what we might consider a traditional self-portrait.
